Trailer for Tim Burton’s Abandoned ‘Superman’ Movie Starring Nicolas Cage

Produced and directed by Jon Schnepp here’s the trailer for the upcoming documentary The Death of Superman Lives; What Happened? taking a look at the abandoned Superman movie with a screenplay by Kevin Smith to be directed by Tim Burton. And this isn’t just some fanboy documentary, this actually has the participation of Burton, Smith and several others that were involved with the production including production designer Rick Heinrichs, screenwriter Wesley Strick, costume designer Colleen Atwood and more.

The film, as this trailer shows, got quite far into pre-production as Nicolas Cage was set to star as Superman, in which he would have a mullet and a regenerative suit. Batman was set to cameo, Brainiac was going to be the villain and there was going to be a Doomsday battle set in an underground subway. Plenty of behind-the-scenes footage and art is included and it looks to be incredibly fascinating. However….

The film is still working to complete funding, which you can help with right here. They are currently at $8,722 of and $85,000 goal with 46 days left as of the posting of this article. The funding page features a breakdown of all the costs and there are a variety of rewards at each funding level.

So check out the trailer and see if you’re willing to help it along.
