Streep Joins Jake and Reese in ‘Rendition’

Meryl Streep has been in the game forever and in 2006 she has proven she still has the chops with her, likely to be Oscar nomineed, role in The Devil Wears Prada and an equally interesting role in Robert Altman’s A Prairie Home Companion. However, she is showing no signs of slowing down as she has just joined the cast of Rendition for New Line Cinema and director Gavin Hood.

The film is a multilayered story centered on a CIA analyst, based in the Middle East, whose world spins out of control as he questions his assignment after overseeing the secret-police interrogation of a suspected terrorist. Streep will portray a government official who approves the transfer — the so-called rendition — to a Middle East country of a suspect in a suicide bombing. Shooting of her scenes is expected to begin in Los Angeles in the next few days.

Streep is joining Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon and Peter Sarsgaard in the political thriller.
