Shaken Not Stirred, Remix the James Bond Theme

Sorry Chris Cornell, I love your stuff especially when you were with Soundgarden but the James Bond theme that hit the Net yesterday sure isn’t very good, but thanks to Smirnoff and Sony Pictures you, yeah you, can remix the James Bond theme over at Smirnoff.com.

Smirnoff Vodka has teamed up with world renowned disk jockey, DJ AM and Sony Pictures Entertainment’s new James Bond film, Casino Royale, for a “Shaken and Stirred” DJ contest to uncover the best remix of the classic James Bond Theme.

Five finalists will be selected to perform live in a playoff event at a hot club in New York City on November 8. A celebrity panel of judges spearheaded by DJ AM will be in New York to attend the playoff and select a winner. DJ AM will also perform an exclusive set at the event. The winner will receive an all-expense paid, VIP trip to Las Vegas, the opportunity to open for DJ AM at a nightclub in Las Vegas and additional prizes including DJ equipment.

To enter the “Shaken and Stirred” competition, DJs and electronic musicians are asked to visit www.smirnoff.com/casinoroyale and download the ZIP file that contains John Barry’s arrangement of the James Bond Theme (both in its entirety and as splits of the tracks from the provided recording). Entrants will then remix and reform the theme to create their own personal interpretation, either using their own equipment or Acidplanet, which can be accessed directly from the website. Entries can be submitted via email in MP3 format, or mailed on a standard CD-R. The remixes are only limited by the DJ’s imagination — all entries will be judged on originality, creativity and artistic style.

Online entries will be accepted until 10/13/06 and mail-in entries through 10/17/06. Online entries can be emailed to [email protected] and mail-in entries should be sent to: Scott Houston, Rogers & Cowan, 8687 Melrose Ave., 7th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90069.
