Valiant Partners with Sony for Five-Picture Deal Including Bloodshot and Harbinger!

Last month, it was revealed that Valiant Entertainment was making big plans for their own “cinematic universe” with their characters, and now they’ve laid out a plan for their universe moving forward. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Valiant has partnered up with Sony Pictures to launch their universe in 2017 with the long-in-development Bloodshot, which will be followed by Harbinger.

Bloodshot will be directed by duo behind John Wick, David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, from a script by Kick-Ass 2‘s Jeff Wadlow and Eric Heisserer. Matthew Vaughn and Jason Kothari will serve as executive producers on the project as well. Harbinger will also be written by Heisserer (The Thing remake) with directors currently being sough out. Sony’s current plan is to produce two films for each series then have them both collide in a fifth film, Harbinger War, based on the 2013 crossover comic. Valiant’s Dinesh Shamdasani, along with Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Toby Jaffe (The Fast and Furious franchise, 21 Jump Street) will produce all of the films.

Created by Kevin Van Hook, Don Perlin and Bob Layton, Bloodshot tells the story of a former soldier killed and brought back to life with technological upgrades. This allows him to be the perfect soldier by healing from injuries, shapeshift, and even interact with technology. Harbinger on the other hand was created by Jim Shooter and David Lapham and centers on a group of teenagers with varying superpowers and the Harbinger Foundation that hunts them down, hoping to use them for world control.

Other Valiant properties remain in development, including Shadowman in partnership with the Sean Daniel Company from a script by J. Michael Straczynski, and Archer & Armstrong, also with the Sean Daniel Company from a script by BenDavid Grabinski, in addition to a number of unannounced TV projects.
