Colin Trevorrow Teases Jurassic World’s New Dinosaur

When the trailer debuted for Jurassic World three weeks ago, it confirmed a long-standing rumor that in the context of the film, the owners of the park had done a very silly thing – they’d made their own dinosaur. Speaking with EW, director Colin Trevorrow teased this brand new creation.

“There are dinosaurs and there’s the other—there’s this thing that is not one of them, that is not of them,” Trevorrow said. “There’s a lot of bold new ideas in the movie and I’m pushing it as far forward as I can. I know Steven didn’t want me to make a carbon copy of the earlier films. So we’re going for it.”

Based on Trevorrow’s comments, and the new image from the film as seen in the trailer of Chris Pratt working with Velociraptors seen below, are the dinosaurs able to tell the difference between the “real” dinosaurs and the Frankenstein-asaur? It’s unclear at the time, but certainly a point that could prove useful when the beast eventually escapes in the film.

Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on June 12, 2015, the anticipated movie stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson, Nick Robinson, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, BD Wong, Omar Sy, Judy Greer, Katie McGrath, Lauren Lapkus and Andy Buckley.
