Walden Media and Jordan Kerner (Charlotte’s Web) have hired Sam Weisman to direct The Miracle of St. Anthony, a year in the life of high school basketball coach Bob Hurley Sr.
Weisman (George of the Jungle, Mighty Ducks II) also will executive produce. Josh Shelov (Green Street Hooligans) is adapting Adrian Wojnarowski’s book.
Wojnarowski will consult along with Hurley, whose teams have won 22 state and two national championships. The story centers on the 2005 season and Hurley’s efforts to transform the toughest, least-engaged players at St. Anthony High School in a downtrodden Jersey City neighborhood.
