Trio Cast in Roth’s Dying Animal

Lakeshore Entertainment has added Peter Sarsgaard, Dennis Hopper and Deborah Harry to the cast of its untitled feature adaptation of Philip Roth’s novella Dying Animal, which starts filming next month in Vancouver.

Variety says the trio joins the previously announced Penélope Cruz, Ben Kingsley and Patricia Clarkson.

“Animal” is directed by Isabel Coixet (The Secret Life of Words), adapted by Nicholas Meyer and produced by Lakeshore toppers Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi.

The story follows a grad student, portrayed by Cruz, who gets tangled up in an erotic affair with her professor, played by Kingsley, then returns years later with a revelation.
