Unfaithful stars Richard Gere and Diane Lane will reteam in Nights in Rodanthe, a Warner Bros. adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks romance novel, says Variety.
Village Roadshow Pictures co-finance the film, on track to begin shooting in late May. Denise Di Novi is producing. Alison Greenspan will executive produce. Ken Hixon and Anne Peacock wrote the script.
In “Rodanthe,” Gere will play a doctor who is traveling to reconcile with his estranged son. On the way, he checks into an inn in a North Carolina beach town. There, he has a life-changing romance with a woman who’s trying to decide whether to stay in her unhappy marriage.
“Rodanthe” is the third Sparks adaptation for WB and producer Di Novi, after A Walk to Remember and Message in a Bottle. Sparks scored a hit with The Notebook.
