Overture Picks Up Theron’s Ferris Wheel

Chris McGurk’s Overture Films has purchased U.S. rights to Ferris Wheel, a drama starring Charlize Theron and produced through her Denver and Delilah Films along with partners J.J. Harris and Beth Kono. Film Engine’s A.J. Dix, Bill Shively and Mike Stirling also produced.

Variety says the movie centers on a girl (AnnaSophia Robb) who forms a bond with her uncle (Nick Stahl) after she is abandoned by her mother, portrayed by Theron. Dennis Hopper and Woody Harrelson also star. No release date’s been set.

Digital F/X whiz Bill Maher (not the comedian) directed. Zac Stanford wrote the script.
