Jamie Foxx and Benicio Del Toro Headline Harmony Korine’s The Trap

Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx is set to star in the latest project from Spring Breakers writer and director Harmony Korine. Variety has the news, reporting that Foxx will headline The Trap, described by the outlet as an “ensemble gangster drama”.

Korine, whose other credits include Julien Donkey-Boy, Gummo and Trash Humpers, will both write and direct The Trap with John Lesher producing.

Foxx, who starred earlier this year in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Rio 2, can be seen coming up in both Horrible Bosses 2 (reprising his hitman role as Motherf–r Jones) and in Annie (Playing Will Stacks, the new film’s equivalent of Daddy Warbucks).

More key roles are expected to be named soon, so check back for casting updates on The Trap as they become available.

Update: Another member of the ensemble cast has already been revealed! The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Guardians of the Galaxy star Benicio Del Toro has also signed on for a role. They also offer a plot update, claiming that The Trap will follow two very different childhood friends. One is very successful and the other has spent most of his life a convict. When the latter man is released from prison, he becomes determined to seek revenge.
