Ray Winstone to Play Pappas in Point Break Remake

Although the movie lost Gerard Butler as Bodhi earlier this week, Point Break is moving forward and has announced a new cast member. Ray Winstone has been cast as Pappas, who was originally played by Gary Busey in the 1991 movie.

Luke Bracey is still set to play Johnny Utah in the Ericson Core-directed film. Point Break is set in the world of international extreme sports, and like the original involves an undercover FBI agent infiltrating a criminal ring.

Alcon Entertainment is looking to start production in June. Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson are producing along with Michael DeLuca, John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Kurt Wimmer, who also wrote the screenplay. RGM Media principal Devesh Chetty and investor John McMurrick, Chairman of Marloss Entertainment, will serve as executive producers.
