Frank Marshall is planning another project that puts him in the director’s chair. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the longtime producer has boarded a Paramount Pictures film titled The Longest Night. It will mark Marshall’s first directorial project since 2006’s Eight Below.
The Longest Night is based on a 2008 GQ article by Sean Flynn, detailing the true story of the fishing boat Alaska Ranger which, on Easter Sunday, 2008, went down in the Bering Sea. Of the forty-seven crew aboard, forty-two of them were rescued by the Coast Guard.
Marshall’s past credits as a director include the true survival story Alive, the Michael Crichton adaptation Congo and the horror thriller Arachnophobia.
Dawn Ostroff and Jeremy Steckler are producing The Longest Night through Conde Nast Entertainment alongside Marshall’s own Kennedy/Marshall Company.
