Lead Role in Tomorrowland Down to Two Actresses

The casting news for Brad Bird’s upcoming Tomorrowland has been sparse with only a few names having been revealed including George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy and Thomas Robinson. Now, The Hollywood Reporter says the casting for the lead character in the film is down to “The Secret Circle” and “Under the Dome’s” Britt Robertson (pictured to the left) and “Tera Nova’s” Naomi Scott (on the right).

The lead character, named Casey Newton, is described as a rebellious teenager that comes to George Clooney’s character for help. Sources close to the production say the role has “potential to be star-making.”

Tomorrowland is written by Damon Lindelof and Bird from a concept by Lindelof and Jeff Jensen. Lindelof (Star Trek, “LOST,” Prometheus) will produce and Bird (The Incredibles, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) will produce and direct.

Tomorrowland is set for release on December 19, 2014.
