I caught the season opener last night during an American Horror Story: Asylum press event and I can report back that episode one of Coven is great. It maintains its witty and screwed up flair. At the same time, though, it didn’t leave me with the unsure feeling I got with the season opener of Asylum.
The doom and gloom of Asylum is replaced by the sense of fun that came with the first season’s story arc. While Jessica Lange is great and has some of the best lines, as always, the episode really goes to Taissa Farmiga, Emma Roberts, Jamie Brewer and Gabourey Sidibe. I’m eager to spend the next season with these four feisty witches. I’ll be weighing in with more thoughts on our podcast – The BloodCast – soon.
