Marilyn Manson Joins Fiancé Wood in Splatter Sisters Slasher

Produced by Edward Pressman and David Gordon Green

Out of the Cannes Film Festival comes word that legendary Hollywood producer Edward Pressman will team with filmmaker David Gordon Green (who has been developing a remake of Dario Argento’s Suspiria for many years) to produce Adam Bhala Lough’s Splatter Sisters, a slasher flick that will star rocker Marilyn Manson paired with his fiancé, actress Evan Rachel Wood. It will be the first in a planned franchise of ’80s-influenced “sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movies” that Lough, director of the drama Bomb the System set in the world of graffiti.

Casting Manson, a devout horror fan, in his first film role since Asia Argento’s The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things, Green told Variety, “This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play, and with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level.”

Pressman had this to say about filmmaker Adam Lough, “Lough’s unique talent and energy will make ‘Splatter Sisters’ a very special and markedly commercial film. I’ve always been attracted to smart movies about killers made by directors with a real vision.

With Pressman’s involvement, this probably will be a far more commercial film than the usual indie slasher flick we’ve seen in recent years, although no studio is attached to distribute at this point.
