Gordon Green’s Suspiria Remake Shooting Next Year

Natalie Portman rumored to star in Argento update

The eagle-eyed guys at The Playlist spotted a single sentence in a Variety story about Tilda Swinton’s new movie I Am Love, which mentions that film’s director Luca Guadagnino is planning on moving forward next year to produce a remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 cult thriller Suspiria with David Gordon Green (The Pineapple Express) directing. ShockTillYouDrop.com spoke to Green about the project last year, but he’s currently shooting his new movie Your Highness and there’s been no word of that horror remake until now.

To be specific, the Variety article ends thusly:

Guadagnino also said plans are on track for his First Sun shingle to produce the long-in-gestation remake of Dario Argento’s 1977 cult hit “Suspiria.” It will be helmed by David Gordon Green with a 2010 shooting date.

There’s no mention whether Natalie Portman, who was rumored to play the lead, is still attached or planning on starring in the movie.
