The animated feature film
The folks at Anchor Bay Entertainment passed along the following press release regarding their forthcoming release Dead Space: Downfall, a prequel to the upcoming horror video game.
“Evidence of mankind’s creator also plays host to our worst nightmare, in Anchor Bay Entertainmentâs October 28th DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases of Dead Space: Downfall. Prebook is September 25th and SRP for the DVD is $26.97, $34.98 for the Blu-ray.
A must-have feature that bridges the narrative between the ongoing Image Comics series and the highly anticipated Electronic Arts video game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 (to be released October 21st and the PC version released October 28th), Dead Space: Downfallâs terrifying tale leads into the highly anticipated Electronics Arts video game for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 to be released October 21st and the PC version released October 28th, completes one of the more ambitious — and disturbing — multi-media story arcs in recent horror history.
âThe trick here is itâs three different properties, the comic, the movie, and the video game,â said Jimmy Palmiotti, co-scriptwriter for Downfall.
âFor us, it was creating another 400 ways to kill people ⦠Just when you think it canât get any worse, it turns another corner.â Joe Goyette, Dead Space Downfallâs producer, added, âThe comic book has itâs own voice. The game has itâs own voice. We have our own voice too.â That voice — entailing everything from bone-chilling suspense to unanswered screams for mercy — completes the plot of the comics, and gives gamers insight into the horrors theyâll face.
Dead Space: Downfall was produced and animated by Film Roman (âThe Simpsons,â âKing of the Hillâ) â Film Roman and Anchor Bay Entertainment are divisions of Starz Media â and is the first of several planned Film Roman animation projects based on Electronic Arts franchises.
Both the DVD and the Blu-ray will feature a deleted scene, trailers and hidden âcheatâ codes for the EA video game. The Blu-ray is a 25GB offering, with 1080p video encoded with AVC. English True HD and DTS-HD tracks are included, along with a Spanish subtitle track. In a first for Anchor Bay Entertainment, a CD soundtrack in MP3 format, presented in Dolby Digital 5.1, can be downloaded via BD Live features, as well as animatics and other Dead Space: Downfall extras. The Blu-ray will also feature a separate standard definition DVD with digital copies for the PC and PlayStation Portable.”
