Demons and Lovers! Horror and Nudity!
Wanna get your demon love groove on? If you live in the Los Angeles area swing on by the New Beverly Cinema (7165 Beverly Boulevard) on Tuesday, September 18th. After a temporary, deserved absence, the Grindhouse Film Festival is back with the horrific double-feature Satan’s Mistress and Scream of the Demon Lover (the fact that title exists rocks).
“Mistress,” released in 1982 and directed by James Polakof, features Lana Wood, John Carradine and my favorite nude-dancin’ “Wicker” gal Britt Ekland. The story follows a housewife’s descent into madness as she beds a mysterious supernatural stranger night after night. 1971’s “Demon Lover” shares a similar theme: a woman takes a lover who is not at all what he seems. Jose Luis Merino directs.
Showtime begins at 7:30pm with a raffle and prize giveaway schedule before the twofer. Lana Wood is expected to be the evening’s special guest!
