Sony Hires Ex-Aladdin for Historian

Adapting from Kostova’s popular novel

Sony is all sharp, toothy grins when it comes to vampires. Bloodsuckers have done well for the studio, whether it was Bram Stoker’s Dracula or the recent Underworld series.

A couple of years back Sony acquired the rights for Elizabeth Kostova’s vamp novel, The Historian, and now they’re finally ready to move on the project.

Finding confidence in the right writer to adapt the material appears to be the reason for its long gestation process. According to Variety, they’ve found their man.

Brad Caleb Kane – who is best known as the singing voice in Disney’s Aladdin franchise but is now a “writer to watch” – is taking the honor to adapt Kostova’s story which follows a woman searching for her father who set off to find Vlad the Impaler’s grave.
