Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight

Before she schools Batman and Superman, take a look back with our Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight!

In just a few short years, Gal Gadot has gone from a complete unknown to the first actress to portray Wonder Woman on the silver screen. And there may be bigger things in the future for Gadot after her first turn as the iconic superheroine.

Gadot didn’t come from complete obscurity. In her native Israel, Gadot became a fashion model before she served her compulsory term in the Israeli military. Gadot’s knowledge of weapons helped land her a leading role in three Fast & Furious films, which introduced Gadot to an international audience. In 2013, Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and she is currently filming the Wonder Woman feature film before returning for the two-part Justice League movie.

On Friday, March 25, comic book movie fans will get their first extended glimpse of Gadot as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman. But before that happens, ComingSoon.net has a put together a retrospective of Gadot’s career to date!

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: Entourage (2009)

Gadot made her acting debut in Bubot, an Israeli TV series in 2007. Two years later, Gadot made her Hollywood debut in the second episode of HBO‘s Entourage season six. Gadot’s part was only a minor role as a woman named Lisa, but it was enough to get her noticed.

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: The Beautiful Life (2009)

Do you know what it takes to get cancelled on The CW after only two episodes? Extremely low ratings. If a significant audience had watched The Beautiful Life, it could have been a major milestone in Gadot’s career. Gadot wasn’t one of the series regulars, but she was cast in a supporting role as a supermodel named Olivia. But because the show was cancelled so quickly, Gadot’s episodes of The Beautiful Life were never actually aired on TV.

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: Fast & Furious (2009)

The fourth movie in the Fast & Furious film series is the project that changed Gadot’s life. It was also the film that revitalized the franchise by bringing back the four primary performers from the first movie. Gadot played Gisele Yashar, an associate of Arturo Braga (John Ortiz), a drug lord whom both Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) had good reasons to take down. Gisele proved to be an ally, although Dom didn’t reciprocate her attraction to him.

Fast & Furious was a blockbuster hit, and it instantly elevated Gadot’s stature in Hollywood.

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: Date Night (2010)

Gadot’s first post-Fast & Furious film was Date Night, in which she had a small role as Natanya, the girlfriend of Mark Wahlberg’s Holbrooke Grant, a reluctant ally to Phil and Claire Foster, the hapless married couple played by Tina Fey and Steve Carell.

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: Knight and Day (2010)

For her next theatrical role in Knight and Day, Gadot played a henchwoman named Naomi, who worked for a Spanish arms dealer, Antonio Quintana (Jordi Mollà). Like Date Night, this was a very, very small part, but at least Gadot got to share the screen with Tom Cruise’s Roy Miller.

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: Fast Five (2011)

To no one’s surprise, Fast Five brought back almost everyone from Fast & Furious, including Gal Gadot’s Gisele. This time, Gisele was a full member of Dom’s team, and she formed a relationship with Han (Sung Kang).

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: Fast & Furious 6 (2013)

It was two years before Gadot appeared in another movie, and it was her last appearance in the Fast & Furious franchise. In Fast & Furious 6, Gisele and Han returned to join Dom and Brian’s team once again and earn pardons for taking down Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) and his mercenaries. And let’s just say that neither Gisele nor Han had a happy ending in this film.

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: Triple 9 (2016)

Later this month, Gadot will have a role in the action thriller Triple 9. However, very little is known about her character other than her name: Elena. The story of the film revolves around a group of criminals and corrupt cops who plan to murder a rookie cop named Chris Allen (Casey Affleck) as a distraction for their heist against the Russian mafia.

Director John Hillcoat has assembled a pretty impressive cast for Triple 9, including Gadot, Affleck, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Aaron Paul, Norman Reedus, Woody Harrelson, and Kate Winslet. The movie hits theaters on February 26.

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Next month, Gadot is ready for her close up as Wonder Woman in the DC Comics adaptation Batman v Superman. There are some indications that Gadot’s Wonder Woman will be different from the comic book incarnation of her character, especially in terms of her age. It’s not entirely clear what Wonder Woman is trying to accomplish in the war between Batman and Superman, but the trailer suggests that she may be the key to bringing the two heroes together against a larger threat.

Gal Gadot Movies and TV Spotlight: Wonder Woman (2017)

Three months ago, Gadot began filming her part in the Wonder Woman movie for director Patty Jenkins. Chris Pine will play Wonder Woman’s love interest, Steve Trevor, while Connie Nielsen will play Queen Hippolyta, Wonder Woman’s mother and the queen of the Amazons.

Very few story details have emerged, but some of the early photos from the set appear to have confirmed that the film will be partially set during the first World War. But it remains to be seen which villains will be used in the movie.

Wonder Woman will arrive in theaters on June 23, 2017.
