The following is from the DVD cover:

“‘Avenue Montaigne’ centers around Jessica (Cecile de France) a beautiful young woman from the provinces who comes to Paris and lands a job waiting tables at a chic bistro on fabled Avenue Montaigne, the city’s nexus for art, music, theater and fashion. Jessica’s customers include a popular TV actress (Valerie Lemercier) who is courting a major Hollywood director (Sydney Pollack) for her first serious film role; a wealthy art collector (Claude Brasseur) who is about to liquidate a lifetime’s worth of treasures at auction; and an illustrious classical pianist (Albert Dupontel) who is at odds with his manager/wife (Laura Morante) as to where is career is headed. Precisely because Jessica doesn’t know how celebrated people are, her guileless and completely unintimidated engagement in their lives has a transforming effect on them – and ultimately her.”

“Avenue Montaigne” is rated PG-13 for some strong language and brief sexuality.

CS Comment:

French films aren’t always my cup of tea, but fans of foreign cinema will want to note this release.

Synopsis:

The following is from the DVD cover:

“School’s back in session on ‘College Hill: Virgin Islands,’ BET’s addictive reality show. The highly-anticipated fourth season features a new cast of eight students attending the University of Virgin Islands St. Thomas. ‘College Hill’ is HBCU college life uncensored and completely unrestricted: from the classroom to chaos – cultural clashes to crazy sexual escapades, pranks to strict consequences – the network’s cameras are there 24/7 to catch all of the action. On this season of ‘College Hill,’ four Virgin Islanders live in a tricked-out pad with a group of California transfer students and it’s not too long before the cultural tension crescendos! This season brings a new combination of saucy, volatile and eclectic personalities with more of the on- and off-campus escapades that have marked its ratings success for the last three seasons. Reality TV reaches new heights as BET’s ‘College Hill’ exposes real student life – drama and all – in the quest for higher education! ”

CS Comment:

Fans of this TV series may be glad to get this DVD with uncensored footage. Personally, I’m outside of the target audience for this release.

Synopsis:

The following is from the DVD cover:

“The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is one of America’s fastest-growing religions and, relative to its size, one of the richest. Church membership, now at over 12 million and growing, sweeps the globe. But from the moment of its founding in 1830, the church has been controversial. Within a month, it had 40 converts and almost as many enemies. In the early years, Mormons were hated, ridiculed, persecuted and feared. Yet in the past several decades, the Mormon church has transformed itself from a fringe sect into a thriving religion that embraces mainstream American values; its members include prominent and powerful politicians, university presidents and corporate leaders. Completed in 1893, the Salt Lake City Temple is the largest temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Mormons have always had a peculiar hold on the American imagination, but few know who the Mormons actually are or who they claim to be, and their story is one of the great neglected American narratives.”
