Former WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther has received massive praise from a top star from the Monday Night Wars era. Gunther, who held the title for the longest reign in WWE history, held the Intercontinental Championship for 666 days. His reign came to an end at WWE WrestleMania 40 against Sami Zayn.
Gunther, who has been having a phenomenal run on WWE’s main roster, has received a lot of praise from wrestling veteran Lex Luger. Speaking on his podcast “Lex Expressed,” Luger praised Gunther’s work, mentioning that he gives off vibes of both old-school and modern-day wrestlers.
Lex Luger stated, “I love his work. I love the way — just the tights and the boots. He doesn’t even wear his knee pads, like old school. he’s sort of a combo of [a] throwback and [he] can do the modern-day stuff as well. If you’re not a nice blend, he has a great look. His interviews have gotten better and better. I like Gunther a lot. He’s got the height and the size and just that look he has. I like Gunther a lot.”
Once considered a face of WWE in the 1990s, Lex Luger shocked fans when he surprisingly showed up on the debut of WCW Nitro. Luger, whose WWE contract was up, surprisingly chose WCW’s side. His move delivered a major blow to WWE during the Monday Night Wars.
