New WWE Matches This Week (May 13 – May 17, 2024)

The WWE universe remains abuzz with anticipation after the electrifying WWE Backlash in France. Now, WWE RAW and SmackDown are gearing up for the next phase of excitement with the King and Queen of the Ring tournament quarterfinals. The WWE’s next PLE King and Queen of the Ring are set to take place in two weeks.

This week, WWE RAW is set to take place from the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. WWE has booked a number of interesting matches for the show, including the King and Queen of the Ring quarterfinals.

In the King of the Ring Quarterfinals ‘Main Event,’ Jey Uso will face Ilja Dragunov in a one-on-one match. Both wrestlers have showcased incredible skills in their first-round match last week, earning their spot in this round. ‘The Ring General’ Gunther will battle Kofi Kingston, who secured a victory over Rey Mysterio at a WWE live event, advancing to the second round.

In the Queen of the Ring Quarterfinals, newcomer Lyra Valkyria will square off against Zoey Stark in a singles match. IYO SKY will go head-to-head with Shayna Baszler, who recently defeated Maxxine Dupri.

Last week, tensions escalated as Liv Morgan challenged Women’s World Champion Becky Lynch for her title at the upcoming WWE King and Queen of the Ring PLE. This week, Becky Lynch is scheduled to compete, although her opponent remains undisclosed.

Additionally, WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn is fresh off his victory at WrestleMania 40. However, he faces a tough challenge in a triple threat match against Chad Gable and Bronson Reed. The ongoing rivalry between these three superstars promises to deliver high-stakes action and drama in the Intercontinental Championship scene.

Over on WWE SmackDown, the show is set take place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, FL, for a night of contract signings, tournament clashes, and interesting developments.

After defeating AJ Styles at WWE Backlash, Cody Rhodes learned about his upcoming match. Last week on WWE SmackDown, general manager Nick Aldis introduced Logan Paul as the next challenger for Cody Rhodes at the King and Queen of the Ring PLE. This week, both stars are set to be featured in a contract signing.

In the King of the Ring Quarterfinals on SmackDown, Randy Orton, fresh from his victory over AJ Styles, faces Carmelo Hayes. While Tama Tonga takes on LA Knight in the other quarterfinal match. The Queen of the Ring Quarterfinals feature Nia Jax against Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair against Tiffany Stratton in their respective matches.

Last week on SmackDown, WWE Women’s Champion Bayley faced interruptions from Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, hinting at potential title challenges ahead. Bayley successfully defended her title against Naomi and Tiffany Stratton at WWE Backlash in France. Now, she appears to have a new challenger in Chelsea Green.

The Bloodline saga continues as Solo Sikoa, along with the newly added Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, confronts Paul Heyman. He questions Heyman about a backstage encounter with Jey Uso at WWE Backlash. Sikoa has previously asserted his authority within the faction.
