Triple H Opens Up About WWE WrestleMania 40 Changes for Cody Rhodes & The Rock

Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer, has disclosed the truth behind the change in WrestleMania 40 plans involving Cody Rhodes and The Rock. Fans anticipated a rematch between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns after Rhodes won the Royal Rumble. However, WWE decided to alter the plans and opt for The Rock to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40.

Originally, Cody Rhodes relinquished his opportunity to face Roman Reigns, letting The Rock challenge Reigns instead. However, due to the negative fan reaction, plans were altered, resulting in The Rock turning heel after Rhodes decided to challenge Reigns after all. This decision faced backlash from fans, leading to the hashtag “We Want Cody” trending on social media for days. The strong support for Rhodes resulted in a revised WrestleMania lineup.

Speaking to ESPN, Triple H discussed the decision to change WrestleMania 40 plans due to fan response. He stated, “Now it’s a different time, and the way I do things is slightly different. My career, I learned from being here, but there were things along the way that I always thought I would do differently. In this time now, I get to make those calls and with a large team of people. Whether people will want to believe it or not, I think we were sort of looking at this as here’s where we’re going to go to get this started, and it has the opportunity of going this way or that way.”

He continued, “We always have to call audibles every single week. Everything you do is dependent on reactions. That’s what we do as an industry. The beautiful thing with this group and with Cody and Roman and Rock especially, everybody’s got their ear to the ground. And then we all just get together and figure the s*** out.”

Roman Reigns & The Rock attack Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins on WWE RAW

During the recent WWE RAW episode, The Rock and The Bloodline engaged in a heated segment with Seth Rollins, resulting in a bloodline rules match between Rollins and Solo Sikoa in the main event of the show.

During the match, Seth Rollins was close to winning when he was ambushed by Jimmy Uso. However, Jey Uso intervened to help Rollins, leading to a brawl between the brothers on the ramp. As this happened, The Rock entered the ring and faced off with Seth Rollins, who seemed calm despite the situation.

The arena erupted as Cody Rhodes joined in, attacking The Rock and Rollins. Roman Reigns suddenly appeared from under the ring and saved The Rock, leading to a brawl involving The Rock, Reigns, and Solo Sikoa against Rhodes and Rollins.

The Rock used his belt against Rollins and Rhodes, while Reigns joined the pray to attack with the belt. The show ended with The Rock and Roman Reigns standing tall in the ring. With WrestleMania 40 just four days away, fans can anticipate a huge showdown in Philadelphia.
