Shelton Benjamin in Talks with AEW

Since departing from WWE in September 2023, former WWE Superstar Shelton Benjamin has been making headlines. Alongside stars like Nic Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler), Mustafa Ali, and Matt Riddle, who found success elsewhere, Benjamin’s next move has been the subject of recent reports.

Recent reports indicate that Benjamin has been in talks with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, discussions have occurred regarding Benjamin potentially appearing for AEW. However, details regarding the nature of any potential deal remain limited, whether a full-time contract or simply appearances.

Although no deal has been confirmed, the fact that Benjamin and AEW have engaged in discussions suggests a possible future collaboration. Interestingly, some people within AEW were already advocating for Benjamin even before his WWE contract expired.

In the meantime, Benjamin has been busy in the wrestling world. He recently returned to the ring at the March 9 WWC La Hora De La Verdad show and is scheduled to face Josh Alexander at Prestige Wrestling’s “Alive or Just Breathing” event on May 16.

AEW’s recent signings have brought major stars into the spotlight, generating excitement across the professional wrestling world. While former WWE Superstar Shelton Benjamin’s potential move to AEW remains uncertain, the promotion continues to make waves with its latest acquisitions.

Fans were treated to the debut of Will Ospreay, who previously had ties with AEW in November. Despite his commitments to NJPW, Ospreay officially joined AEW in February and made his full-time wrestler debut at AEW Revolution. His match against Konosuke Takeshita received widespread acclaim, earning a remarkable 5.75-star rating from wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer.

Adding to the excitement, Kazuchika Okada shocked fans with his debut on Dynamite, immediately making an impact by turning heel and aligning himself with the Elite. Okada’s first match took place at AEW Collision, where he participated in a trios tag team match.

In anticipation of this week’s AEW Dynamite, titled “Big Business,” rumors abound about the potential debut of former WWE Superstar Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks. As speculation mounts, fans eagerly await what promises to be another groundbreaking moment in AEW’s ever-evolving landscape.
