John Cena Teases WWE Future

WWE Superstar John Cena hinted at his post-in-ring role in a recent interview. Cena, who is hailed as one of WWE’s greatest superstars, dominated as a 16-time world champion before transitioning to a successful Hollywood career. Returning briefly in 2023 amid a SAG-AFTRA strike, he spoke about his wrestling future.

John Cena‘s WWE comeback in September at WWE Superstar Spectacle in India marked his return to the ring. There, he joined forces with Seth Rollins for a tag team showdown. Subsequently, Cena engaged in a fierce rivalry with The Bloodline, aligning with LA Knight for a face-off at Fastlane. The latest chapter in Cena’s in-ring journey unfolded at WWE Crown Jewel 2023.

John Cena shared insights in a PEOPLE interview, reflecting on his WWE journey. Cena, contemplating a strategic exit, vows not to linger selfishly.

He said, “I turned 47 this past year and I don’t have much time left in the WWE. You know, I’m trying to figure out when to close that chapter. I wouldn’t be who I am — professionally or personally — without the WWE, and I promised myself that I would never simply just be there for my own sake. Every time I perform, I want to give my all to the audience.”

He continued by saying, “And I’ve got to admit when I hit the 45 mark, I had to begin to try to form an exit strategy and I’m trying to work on that currently. I just want to do what’s best for the company. If it’s a big final match or if it’s just a final match, or however I can be integrated into the product to let everyone know that this chapter is over, I’m willing to listen to what WWE has to say.”

Cena’s future in WWE remains uncertain, but his dedication to leaving a lasting impact is evident.

Did John Cena hang up his WWE boots?

After his last match at WWE Crown Jewel 2023, John Cena suffered a dominant loss to Solo Sikoa, who executed 11 Samoan Spikes. This defeat was Cena’s most significant since SummerSlam 2014, facing Brock Lesnar and enduring 16 German suplexes. Cena bid a near-tearful goodbye to fans after the Crown Jewel match.

Post the defeat at Crown Jewel, Cena hinted at retirement and has not appeared on WWE TV since his loss. Despite the absence, no official announcement about hanging up his boots has been made.

With WrestleMania 40 season looming, fans eagerly anticipate whether Cena will make a comeback. The WWE universe will hold its breath to see if the iconic superstar will grace the ring once more.
