New Match Announced for Chris Jericho at AEW Worlds End

In a surprising turn of events, a new match has been announced for Chris Jericho at this Saturday’s AEW Worlds End pay-per-view event. Originally, Jericho was to face AEW World Tag Team Champions Big Bill and Ricky Starks, defending their titles against the formidable Golden Jets duo of Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega. However, the landscape shifted a few weeks ago when Omega announced his withdrawal due to Diverticulitis.

Nevertheless, due to Kenny Omega’s absence caused by Diverticulitis, Jericho needed to find a replacement tag team partner for a potential title match. This week on AEW Dynamite, the identity of that partner seemed to be Sammy Guevara.

Chris Jericho rescued Guevara from a 3-on-1 attack by the Don Callis Family, only to face an attack himself from Big Bill and Starks. Fortunately, Sting and Darby Allin came to the rescue, saving Jericho and Sammy.

What initially shaped up as an eight-man tag team war pitting Jericho, Guevara, Sting, and Darby Allin against Big Bill, Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Kyle Fletcher – took an unexpected turn.

AEW’s official X (formerly Twitter) account shared a revised graphic featuring Konosuke Takeshita instead of Kyle Fletcher, hinting at Takeshita stepping in for the Don Callis Family.

So, the stage is set for an electrifying showdown in an eight-man tag team match at the AEW Worlds End this Saturday.

What’s next for Chris Jericho in AEW?

As Chris Jericho gears up for an eight-man tag team match, speculation arises regarding his post-AEW Worlds End plans.

Initially set to compete for the AEW Tag Team Championship against Ricky Starks and Big Bill, Jericho secured the number one contender spot alongside Kenny Omega after triumphing over the Young Bucks at Full Gear in November. However, with Omega currently sidelined, the fate of Jericho’s contender match remains uncertain.

A potential scenario could involve Jericho joining forces with Sammy Guevara, who recently made a comeback on Dynamite, reuniting with Jericho. Formerly known as the Le Sex Gods, their alliance disintegrated when Guevara sided with the Don Callis Family.

Yet, with Guevara now separated from the Callis Family, Jericho, and Guevara might contemplate rekindling their tag team and target the AEW Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks and Big Bill for a match. It will be interesting to see what unfolds at AEW Worlds End this Saturday.
