HBO Set Decorator Talks Production in Westworld Season 2

HBO shared a sneak peek of the production for the highly-anticipated second season of Westworld. Watch and listen to Oscar-nominated set decorator Julie Ochipinti talk about the process of building the various sets that bear the unmistakable mark of the hit sci-fi Western fantasy drama in the player below.

Ochipinti speaks to the inventiveness of her team in finding props and building the sets and machinery that make the futuristic, high-tech theme park and production facility of the show feel alive. She also makes it a point to highlight the weirdness of her job, which feels perfectly appropriate given the premise of the series itself.

The video clip also gives some insight into what this upcoming season has to offer. We can see parts of the charming town of Sweetwater, the infamous Mariposa Saloon, and what seems to be the grim aftermath of the final scene in the first season.

There’s also a Thandie Newton sighting in the clip. Newton plays Maeve Millay, Westworld host and former Madam of Mariposa Saloon. Given how her character ended up in the previous season, it should be exciting to see the continuation of her story arc.

Season 2 of Westworld premieres exclusively on HBO on April 22, 2018.
