Kate Del Castillo is Mexico’s First Lady in Ingobernable

Netflix has just released the trailer for their upcoming series Ingobernable, starring Kate Del Castillo (Telenovela) as Mexico’s First Lady Emilia Urquiza.

In the series, Emilia is on the run after the murder of her husband, President Diego Nava, played by Erik Hayser (Los Miserables). Emilia has been working for peace in her country and things aren’t going well with her marriage to the President. She files for divorce, but before anything can be finalized, President Nava is murdered. Emilia goes on the run, trying to figure out what happened and prove her innocence.

Here is the official synopsis: “Diego Nava and Emilia Urquiza Mexico’s presidential couple had many plans, but social and political pressure makes Diego compromise his ideals. Emilia a strong woman with convictions losses faith in her husband and leaves him, not knowing how much the future of Mexico will change after.”

When the series was announced back in 2015, Del Castillo told Variety, “I absolutely love the role. It’s challenging, it’s risky, it’s compelling. The storyline and the cast are excellent. The kind of content Netflix is synonymous with. I am so happy to be part of the team.” Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos said, “Netflix is committed to the creation of high-quality, Spanish-language original series for Mexico, U.S., Latin America and the world.”

The 15-episode first season will hit Netflix on March 24, 2017. The First Couple’s children will be played by Alicia Jaziz and Emiliano Nava Urquiza. Ingobernable is produced by Argos and created by Epigmenio Ibarra, Veronica Velasco and Natasha Ybarra-Klo.
