FOX has set their new Edwardian mystery adventure series Houdini and Doyle to premiere May 2
FOX has set a May 2 premiere date for their new series, Houdini and Doyle. From House creator and executive producer David Shore, the new mystery adventure drama series stars Michael Weston (House, Six Feet Under), Stephen Mangan (Episodes) and Rebecca Liddiard (Man Seeking Woman). Look for the Houdini and Doyle premiere at 9:00pm ET/PT, following an all-new episode of Gotham. You can watch a Houdini and Doyle first look trailer in the player below.
Inspired by true events, Houdini and Doyle follows two great men of the 20th Century and real-life friends – Harry Houdini (Weston), master magician, escape artist and paranormal debunker; and Arthur Conan Doyle (Mangan), prolific writer, creator of “Sherlock Holmes” and paranormal aficionado. They grudgingly join forces with New Scotland Yard to investigate unsolved, inexplicable and possibly supernatural crimes, alongside the first female Constable of the London Metropolitan Police Force, Adelaide Stratton (Liddiard).
In the series, Houdini, Doyle and Stratton are tasked with the cases that nobody else can solve. It challenges their sense of what is real and what is not. Houdini is a skeptic, while Doyle believes in the unseen. Their diverse viewpoints make solving crime a challenge and often Stratton is put in the middle. The trio will take on cases that involve vampires, ghosts, monsters and poltergeists… or are they a ruse to conceal murder?
Houdini and Doyle is a Canada/U.K. treaty co-production from Shaftesbury (Canada) and Big Talk Productions (U.K.), in association with Shore Z Productions. The series is executive-produced by David Shore, creator and executive producer of the network’s long-running and award-winning medical drama, House; and written and created by his longtime collaborator, David Hoselton, and veteran TV writer/producer David Titcher (The Librarians). Christina Jennings, Maggie Murphy and Scott Garvie for Shaftesbury; and Kenton Allen, Matthew Justice and Luke Alkin for Big Talk Productions also serve as executive producers. The series is distributed by Sony Pictures Television.
