Starz has shared the official trailer for Outlander Season 8, the upcoming final installment of the popular historical fantasy drama. The time-traveling show is slated to debut on Friday, March 6. New episodes are streaming weekly on Fridays, only on the Starz app and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms in the U.S.

“As Season 8 begins, Jamie and Claire soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence. With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together,” reads the show’s newest synopsis. “While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they’ve left the war for America’s freedom behind, their fight for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.”

What happens in the Outlander Season 8 trailer?

The video highlights Jamie and Claire’s epic final journey, teasing a mix of heartwarming and heartbreaking moments along the way. The beloved couple faced the possibility of Jamie’s imminent demise after reading his fate in Frank Randall’s book from the future. It also teases the upcoming war that will change everything for the Fraser family. The emotional trailer also offers a glimpse at some of the final season’s action-packed sequences.

Outlander spans the genres of romance, science fiction, history, and adventure in one epic tale. It follows the story of combat nurse Claire Randall from 1945, who gets mysteriously swept back in time to 1743 Scotland. The series stars Caitríona Balfe as Claire Fraser, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Sophie Skelton as Brianna MacKenzie, Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, John Bell as Young Ian Murray, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, and Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Murray.

The show is executive-produced by Balfe, Heughan, Matthew B. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Andy Harries, and Jim Kohlberg. It is a production by Sony Pictures. Since its debut in 2014, the series has maintained its high approval rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
