Knuckles Clip Shows Titular Warrior Trying to Train a Dog

The first Knuckles clip from Paramount+’s upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off series has been released, featuring the return of franchise vets Idris Elba, Ben Schwartz, Colleen O’Shaughnessey and Tika Sumpter.

The video shows the titular Echidna warrior trying to teach a golden retriever how to have steely focus in order to better detect danger. Meanwhile, Sumpter’s Maddie asks Sonic to talk to Knuckles about adapting in his new home in Earth. The series starts streaming on April 26.

What to expect in Knuckles?

“The spin-off will follow Knuckles on a hilarious and action-packed journey of self-discovery as he agrees to train Wade as his protégé and teach him the ways of the Echidna warrior. The series takes place between the films SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 and SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3,” reads the synopsis.

Knuckles hails from head writer and executive producer John Whittington, with Sonic the Hedgehog director Jeff Fowler helming the pilot episode. The series stars Adam Pally (The Mindy Project), Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones), Julian Barratt (Mindhorn), Scott Mescudi (Don’t Look Up), Ellie Taylor (Ted Lasso), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), Stockard Channing (Grease), Paul Scheer (Veep), and Rob Huebel (Childrens Hospital).

It is executive produced by Elba, Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara, with Paramount Pictures and Sega of America producing. In addition to the upcoming spin-off, Knuckles is expected to return in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 later this year on December 20.
