Treason Trailer: Charlie Cox Leads Spy Thriller Series for Netflix

More than four years since Daredevil ended its three-season run, Charlie Cox is finally making his Netflix comeback by leading the streamer’s upcoming spy thriller series, Treason. The official Treason trailer for the limited drama has been revealed, featuring our first footage of Charlie Cox’s character Adam Lawrence.

In the video, an inexperienced MI6 agent unexpectedly gets chosen to become the leader of the agency after his mentor almost died from an attempted assassination. However, when his complicated past, involving a Russian spy, comes to light, he’ll be caught up in a conspiracy that will implicate him as a double agent.

Described as Bodyguard meets John Le Carre, Treason is written and executive produced by Bridge of Spies‘ Matt Charman. Joining Charlie Cox and Ciarán Hinds are previously announced female leads Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of SolaceBlack Widow) and Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones).

“The miniseries centers around Adam Lawrence, trained and groomed by MI6, whose career seems set,” reads the synopsis. “But when the past catches up with him in the form of Kara, a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past, he is forced to question everything and everyone in his life. A triangular relationship forms between Kara, Adam, and his wife, Maddy; three people who are trying to expose each other’s secrets, navigate political and diplomatic relationships, whilst hanging onto their personal lives, and those they love most.”

Foz Allan and Valery Ryan are executive producing Treason, with Louise Hooper (The Witcher) helming the project. It is a production by Binocular Productions.

The series will be available for streaming on December 26.
