Hacks Season 2 Teaser Previews Deborah and Ava’s Road Trip

HBO Max has revealed a teaser for the highly-anticipated return of Hacks, starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder. For their performance in the first season, Smart won an Emmy and Golden Globe award for Best Actress, while Einbinder was also nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.

The series is scheduled to make its return on Thursday, May 12 with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes a week, concluding on June 2.

“The dark mentorship between legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance and her young, entitled writer Ava continues to evolve as the two travel across the country workshopping Deborah’s new stand-up act,” reads the synopsis.

Hacks is led by Hannah Einbinder and Frasier alum Jean Smart. Returning cast members also include Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Jane Adams, Christopher McDonald, Kaitlin Olson, Paul W. Downs, Poppy Liu, Rose Abdoo, Mark Indelicato, Meg Stalter, Angela E. Gibbs, Luenell, Johnny Sibilly, Joe Mande, Ally Maki, and Lorenza Izzo.

Season 2 will also feature the introduction of new recurring guest stars Laurie Metcalf, Martha Kelly, Ming-Na Wen, and Susie Essman, with Margaret Cho and Devon Sawa set as guest stars.

Hacks is created and executive produced by Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky, who are also serving as showrunners. Executive producers are Emmy winners Michael Schur through Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment, and Morgan Sackett.
