Fraggle Rock Reboot Teaser Sets Apple TV+ Debut

Apple TV+ has debuted the first teaser for The Jim Henson Company’s forthcoming Fraggle Rock reboot titled Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, featuring the return of beloved characters Gobo, Red, Boober, Mokey, and Wembley.

The video, which you can check out below, features the titular puppets as they let the music play by performing a new version of the classic show’s catchy theme song. The series is scheduled to make its debut on January 21, 2022.

Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock hails from Community vets Matt Fusfeld and Alex Cuthbertson, who are serving as the showrunners. Executive producers are Fusfeld, Cuthbertson, Lisa Henson, Halle Stanford, John Tartaglia, Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Dave Goelz, and Karen Prell, with Harvey Mason Jr. set as the executive music producer. Ritamarie Peruggi is producing the reboot.

“Jim Henson’s fun-loving, musical Fraggles are back! Join Gobo, Red, Wembley, Mokey, Boober, and new Fraggle friends on hilarious, epic adventures about the magic that happens when we celebrate and care for our interconnected world,” reads the synopsis.

The series will feature the return of Karen Prell and Dave Goelz as they reprise their roles from the original series and the recent Apple TV+ shorts including Fraggle Rock: Rock On!

The original series ran on-air for five seasons from 1983-1987. It featured a world populated by a mix of human characters and Fraggle Rock puppets. A movie was previously in development, which was going to have the characters Gogo, Wembley, Mokey, Boober, and Red leaving their home in Fraggle Rock and interacting with humans.
