Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Teaser Reveals First Look at Q’s Return

Paramount+ has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming second season of Star Trek: Picard, which is scheduled to make its return sometime in 2022. The video, which you can check out below, provides us a glimpse at what to expect for the new season, including our first look at John de Lancie’s return as Q, who is described as one of Star Trek‘s greatest anti-heroes. It also highlights Jeri Ryan’s Seven of Nine as she is seen waking up without her Borg implants towards the end of the teaser.

Star Trek: Picard tells the next story of Picard’s life, which takes place after the events of Star Trek: Next Generation. Series creator Alex Kurtzman previously described the series as a “very thoughtful, psychological portrait in a lot of ways… Things have changed for [Picard] and changed him in some ways, and yet he is so deeply and fundamentally still Picard.” Season 2 is expected to see Picard dealing with time travel as he tries to save the future.

The series is being led by Sir Patrick Stewart as he returns to the Star Trek Universe to reprise one of his most iconic roles as Jean-Luc Picard. Joining him are returning Star Trek alums, including Brent Spiner as Data and Star Trek: Voyager‘s Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine. It also stars Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, and Orla Brady.

In addition to John de Lancie, the second season will also feature the return of EGOT winner Whoopi Goldberg as she is expected to reprise her role as Guinan. She was personally invited to guest-star in the new season by Stewart when he appeared in The View last year.
