Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers Sets Date, Amazon Nabs Global Rights

Hulu has finally announced the release U.S. premiere date for their upcoming limited series adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s best-selling novel Nine Perfect Strangers, which will feature an all-star cast led by Oscar-winner Nicole Kidman. The 8-episode miniseries is slated to make its debut on August 18. The date announcement also came with the release of a new teaser which you can check out below, highlighting the main cast, including Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Regina Hall, Samara Weaving, and more.

In addition, Deadline brings words that Amazon Studios has successfully acquired the international distribution rights to the upcoming Hulu series. It’s unclear whether or not the said U.S. release date for Nine Perfect Strangers would also be the same as its Amazon Prime Video debut.

Based on author Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name, the limited series is expected to take place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promises healing and transformation in just a span of 10 days. It will follow the story of nine stressed city dwellers as they try to get on a path that will improve and better their way of living. Watching over them is the resort’s director Masha, a woman on a mission to reinvigorate their tired minds and bodies. However, soon they’ll realize that everything isn’t what it seems to be as these nine strangers have no idea what is about to hit them.

The all-star cast of Nine Perfect Strangers will be led by Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies) as Masha, Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?The Kitchen) as Frances, Luke Evans (The Alienist) as Lars, Michael Shannon (The Shape of Water) as Napoleon, Regina Hall (Girls’ Trip) as Carmel, Asher Keddie (Offspring) as Heather, Grace Van Patten (Tramps) as Zoe Marconi, Manny Jacinto (The Good Place) as Yao, Melvin Gregg as Ben, Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) as Jessica, Tiffany Boone (Hunters) as Delilah and Bobby Cannavale (Boardwalk Empire) as Tony.

Nine Perfect Strangers is created by David E. Kelley ( Big Littles Lies) and John-Henry Butterworth, who is also currently co-writing the script to Indiana Jones 5. Executive producers also include Papandrea, Steve Hutensky, and Casey Haver for Made Up Stories, Kidman and Per Saari for Blossom Films, Moriarty, Kelley, and Butterworth.
