New The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Teaser: Elisabeth Moss Wants Justice

Ahead of its long-awaited return this Wednesday, Hulu has released the final teaser promo for the upcoming fourth season of their award-winning drama series The Handmaid’s Tale starring Elisabeth Moss. The video features Moss’ June in a place that looks like a courtroom as she talks in front of a council. This scene teases the possibility of June’s potential future beyond Gilead and what her role might be in the totalitarian government’s demise.

Set to debut on April 28, the 10-episode new season will also feature Moss making her directorial debut as she directed three upcoming episodes. Season 4 was one of the many series productions that were affected by the ongoing pandemic, which resulted in a temporarily filming shutdown for a few weeks. Last December, Hulu has granted the acclaimed series an early fifth season renewal.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s classic novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. It centers on Offred/June Osbourne, one of the few fertile women who were branded as Handmaids in the oppressive patriarchal Republic of Gilead, as she struggles to survive as a reproductive surrogate for a powerful Commander and his resentful wife.

Season 4 continues to follow June in her fight for her and her daughter’s freedom as she strikes back against Gilead by becoming the fierce and fearless rebel leader of the Mayday movement. However, the risks she will take this new season will bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges as her quest for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.

New additions for the third season included McKenna Grace, Christopher Meloni and Elizabeth Reaser, with Sam Jaeger upped to a series regular in Season 4.
