Ron and Leslie catch up virtually in Parks and Recreation Special clip!
A day ahead of the highly-anticipated Parks and Recreation Special that will see the reunion of original cast members in an effort to raise funds for pandemic front line responders, NBC has debuted a new lip of Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson finding a way around quarantine by catching up over virtual video chat. The clip can be viewed in the player below!
A Parks and Recreation Special will see the return of all of our favorite citizens of Pawnee, Ind., including Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope, Rashida Jones’ Ann Perkins, Aziz Ansari’s Tom Haverford, Nick Offerman’s Ron Swanson, Aubrey Plaza’s April Ludgate, Chris Pratt’s Andy Dwyer, Adam Scott’s Ben Wyatt, Rob Lowe’s Chris Traeger, Retta’s Donna Meagle and Jim O’Heir’s Gary “Jerry Larry” Gergich, as well as guest appearances from some recurring stars.
The 30-minute special, filmed from each of the stars’ homes, will center on Leslie as she is determined to stay connected to her friends in a time of social distancing while also looking to raise funds for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund, enabling food banks to secure the resources they need to serve the most vulnerable memories of the community. Fans can also donate to Feeding America in the name of Parks and Recreation ahead of time by clicking here!
“Like a lot of other people, we were looking for ways to help and felt that bringing these characters back for a night could raise some money,” executive producer Michael Schur said in a statement. “I sent a hopeful email to the cast and they all got back to me within 45 minutes. Our old ‘Parks and Rec’ team has put together one more 30-minute slice of (quarantined) Pawnee life and we hope everyone enjoys it. And donates!”
State Farm and Subaru of America are also partnering with the telecast and making matching donations of $150,000 and combined with NBCUniversal and the whole group of the series, a total of $500,000 in matching donations will be made through May 21.
“In such uncertain times, we can’t think of anyone better than Leslie Knope to unite our country with her unbridled enthusiasm and compassion,” Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment, said in a statement. “A huge thank you to Mike Schur and the cast of ‘Parks and Recreation’ for putting this wonderful special together and bringing a smile to all our faces while raising money for such a worthwhile cause.”
Parks and Recreation is a production of Deedle-Dee Productions, Fremulon, 3 Arts Entertainment and Universal Television. Greg Daniels, Michael Schur, Howard Klein, David Miner, Morgan Sackett and Dean Holland serve as executive producers for the series.
A Parks and Recreation Special is set to air on NBC on Thursday, April 30 at 8:30 p.m. EST. The first seven seasons of the Emmy-nominated series is currently available to stream on Netflix!
