The first season of the drama averaged 5.1 million total viewers per episode, making it 2018’s most-watched new cable series and ranking second across all cable TV series for the year. (Buy the first season here.) Starring world-renowned actor and Oscar-winner Kevin CostnerYellowstone is co-created by critically-acclaimed, Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Wind RiverHell or High Water), and John Linson. The impressive cast list also includes Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, and Gil Birmingham.

Josh Holloway (Lost) joins the series this season as Roarke Morris, a hedge fund manager with ambitious plans in Montana concerning the Dutton family.

In Yellowstone, Costner stars as John Dutton, the patriarch of the family who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders – land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny — where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both.

The series has been the No. 1 scripted series of the summer across cable and broadcast TV and was the most-watched 2019 summer series on cable, alongside being the channel’s most-watched show. The deal also includes the first season order of Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown, which the network ordered in January and is set in a small Michigan town focused on the McClusky family, the power brokers for criminals, police, prisoners, and politicians.

Season 2 of Yellowstone kicked off last June and received more consistent ratings and far better reviews from critics and audiences alike.
