Gold Digger Trailer: Ben Barnes & Julia Ormond Star in New Miniseries

Acorn TV has released the official trailer for their upcoming limited drama series Gold Digger, featuring Emmy winner Julia Ormond’s character as she falls in love with a younger man. The miniseries had already aired last year in the UK and is now set to make its U.S. debut on Monday, Monday 3 with a weekly two-episode block through Monday, May 18, 2020. Gold Digger follows Julia Day, a mother and a wife who has spent her whole life putting the needs of others before herself, falls in love with Golding, a man 25 years her junior. It looks at how their unconventional relationship impacts her family as the secrets of their past are revealed and investigates whether Benjamin is really the gold digger that they think he is.

The series stars Emmy-winning actress Julia Ordmond (Sabrina, Temple Grandin) as Julia Day, Ben Barnes (NarniaWestworld) as Golding, Sebastian Armesto (Poldark) as Patrick, Jemima Rooper (Lost in Austen) as Della, Archie Renaux as Leo, Alex Jennings (The Crown) as Ted, Nikki Amuka-Bird (Hard Sun) as Marsha and Julia McKenzie as Hazel.

The series was written and created by Marnie Dickens (Thirteen, The Musketeers) and will consist of six episodes. Vanessa Caswill (Thirteen, Little Women) will direct the first three episodes of the series with David Evans (Preacher) directing the rest of the series. Tim Bradley (Sherlock: Case of Evil, D-Day) and Ani Kevork (Unforgotten) are producing.

Gold Digger is executive produced by Mainstreet’s Laura Mackie and Sally Haynes for Mainstreet Pictures, Elizabeth Kilgarriff for BBC One and Dickens.
