Ryan Murphy unveils first look at Ewan McGregor in Netflix’s Halston
After nearly five months since signing on for the series, Ryan Murphy (American Horror Story) has taken to Instagram to unveil the first look at Ewan McGregor (Birds of Prey) as iconic fashion designer Roy Frowick, best known as Halston, in the upcoming Netflix biographic limited series, as well as revealing the full cast on the project. The tease can be viewed below!
McGregor will star in the series alongside Rory Culkin (Castle Rock) as iconic film director Joel Schumacher (The Lost Boys), Rebecca Davan as Elsa Peretti, David Pittu (King Kong) as Joe Eula, Krysta Rodriguez (Daybreak) as Liza Minnelli (Arrested Development), Sullivan Jones (The Looming Tower) as Ed Austin and Gianfranco Rodriguez as Victor Hugo.
Murphy has also announced that he is producing another miniseries that will be based on the classic Broadway musical A Chorus Line which had won nine Tony Awards in 1976. The series adaptation will be made up of 10 episodes. Murphy also revealed that he and two-time Emmy winner Jessica Lange are working together on yet another new project which tells the story of Hollywood legend Marlene Dietrich.
In addition to the three new series, Murphy has confirmed that he developing two documentary series about pop art icon Andy Warhol and the second one titled A Secret Love which follows a real-life closeted lesbian couple who came out in the 80s.
Last year, Murphy has signed a multi-year deal with Netflix to produce new original content exclusively for the streaming service. The five new projects will be added to the slate of Murphy’s ongoing projects which includes: the dark comedy series The Politician; Ratched, a prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest starring Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) as a younger version of the cruel Nurse Ratched; and the film adaptation of hit Broadway musical The Prom featuring a star-studded cast led by Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman.
