The Mad About You limited event series will explore modern marriage through the eyes of the Buchmans (Paul Reiser, Helen Hunt), as newly minted empty-nesters after dropping their unpredictable, hard-to-control daughter Mabel (Abby Quinn) off at college.

The new installment is expected to be set 20 years after the original series’ ended its run on NBC in 1999. In the original sitcom, Mabel was introduced in Season 6 and was portrayed by two sets of twins through the seventh and final season. In the Season 6 episode “Letters to Mabel,” an 18-year-old Mabel is played by Meredith Bishop. In the series finale, a teen Mabel is played by Cara Delizia, and an adult Mabel is played by Janeane Garofalo.

The half-hour comedy from showrunner Peter Tolan and Sony Pictures Television is slated for a late 2019 launch. Hunt will direct the first episode with original co-creator Danny Jacobson serving as an executive consultant.
