Pen15 will premiere on Hulu

Comedy Series PEN15 from The Lonely Island Will Premiere on Hulu in February

The middle-school-set comedy PEN15 has a premiere date. The Hulu original will premiere on the streaming platform on February 8. Unlike some other Hulu originals, like The Handmaid’s Tale, which releases new episodes weekly, all 10 episodes of PEN15 will be available to stream at once. The video announcing the premiere date captures all the notes, doodles, unrequited crushes and other… less appropriate aspects of life in junior high.

PEN15 was created by and stars Maya Erskine, Anna Konkle, and Sam Zvibleman. Erskine and Konkle will play younger versions of themselves, two 13-year-old outcasts as they forage through the daily terror of middle school in the year 2000. Hulu has described the show as “middle school as it really happened. Erskine and Konkle play versions of themselves as 13-year-old outcasts in the year 2000, surrounded by actual 13-year-olds, where the best day of your life can turn into your worst with the stroke of a gel pen.”

The series will be executive produced by Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone. The trio is better known as the comedy group The Lonely Island, who produced 2016’s Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping. Becky Sloviter, Marc Provissiero, Brooke Pobjoy, Debbie Liebling, and Gabe Liedman will also serve as executive producers.
