Marc Cherry’s Why Women Kill Gets Series Order at CBS All Access

Variety reports that CBS All Access has officially given a straight-to-series order to Desperate Housewives‘ creator Marc Cherry’s comedy drama series Why Women Kill. Cherry will also serve as executive producer with Imagine and CBS Television Studios producing the series.

“As much as we like to think that the institution of marriage has evolved over the past few decades, infidelity still has the ability to rock us to our core,” Cherry said.

Why Women Kill will follow the story of three women living in three different decades: a housewife in the ‘60s, a socialite in the ‘80s and a lawyer in 2018, each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. The series will examine how the roles of women have changed, but how their reaction to betrayal has not.

“‘Why Women Kill’ will explore what happens when women’s primal instincts are unleashed with unexpected and twisted consequences,” Marc Cherry added. “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with two exceptional companies to bring this series to life. Both Imagine and CBS All Access are wonderful partners, and I’m looking forward to an amazing collaboration.”

Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo of Imagine Television will be the show’s executive producers along with Acme Productions’ Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis.

CBS All Access is currently working on other shows such as: Tell Me A Story, a psychological thriller series which will premiere this October 31; Star Trek: Discovery season 2 and it’s recently announced spinoff series Short Treks; the Twilight Zone reboot series which is produced and narrated by Oscar winner Jordan Peele (Us, Weird City); and the Jean-Luc Picard series starring Patrick Stewart.
