Joey King joins Patricia Arquette in Hulu anthology series The Act
Joey King has just landed the starring role opposite Patricia Arquette in Hulu’s upcoming character-based anthology series The Act, according to Deadline.
Written by Nick Antosca and Michelle Dean, The Act is an anthology series that “tells startling, stranger-than-fiction true crime stories.” King will play Gypsy Blanchard, “a young woman trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother, Dee Dee (Arquette). Her quest for independence opens a Pandora’s box of secrets, one that ultimately leads to murder.”
Confined to a wheelchair but cheerful and gracious, Gypsy is everyone’s idea of the perfect sick child. Her overprotective mother, Dee Dee, has always been by her side. But as Gypsy’s sexuality comes into full bloom, she finds herself forced to rebel against her mother’s protectiveness, which has turned controlling and oppressive…
King was last seen in Slender Man and the Netflix comedy The Kissing Booth. She has a number of films in post-production, including The Lie, starring Peter Sarsgaard, Zeroville, featuring Will Ferrell and James Franco, and Camp.
