Preacher’s Graham McTavish to raise Holy Hell in Lucifer: Season 4

Actor and Preacher villain Graham McTavish will forgo his pistols in order to better guard his flock from the powers of Satan in the upcoming season of Lucifer, per TVLine. McTavish will portray Father Kinley, a good hearted priest literally Hell bent on protecting his followers from the titular Prince of Darkness.

This is just the latest bit of casting news as it was announced Monday that Imposters star Inbar Lavi would also be joining the season four cast to play the original sinner Eve. Lucifer recently started production on its fourth season, which is scheduled to last until December for an expected 2019 release.

Based on the Vertigo character, Lucifer is the story of the original fallen angel. Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar abandoned his throne and retired to Los Angeles, where he has teamed up with LAPD detective Chloe Decker to take down criminals. The show ranks 10th and eighth among all FOX dramas this TV season and is down 20% in the demo from its sophomore season. Lucifer is averaging a 0.8 demo rating and 3.3 million total weekly viewers through April 30th.

The cancellation news from the beginning of May gutted fans, who began a social media outcry for another network to save the series with the hashtag “#SaveLucifer,” which landed as the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter for a short while. Cast members from the show, including Tom Ellis and Aimee Garcia, had been very appreciative of all of the fan support and held out hope in interviews that there was still a chance and after producer Warner Bros. TV shopped it around to other networks, Netflix is the savior for the series.

Lucifer is produced by Warner Bros. Television, in association with Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Aggressive Mediocrity. The series is based on characters created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for Vertigo, from DC Entertainment and is executive-produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson. Len Wiseman serves as director and executive producer. Kapinos serves as executive consultant on the series.
