Oh My Double Crap! TBS Has Renewed Final Space for a Second Season

Just in time for the season finale, TBS has announced that fans can look forward to more adventures from Gary Goodspeed and the crew on their animated comedy, Final Space.

The series, which was based on a seven-minute pilot, was created by and stars Olan Rogers as Gary, an astronaut prisoner who is flung into action to save the universe when a planet-destroying alien he affectionately named Mooncake (also voiced by Rogers) and must protect him from the evil Lord Commander, who seeks Mooncake’s powers to reach a mysterious realm known as Final Space.

The 10-episode first season proved to be a huge hit for the cable network, which used the series in interactive new ways online, airing the pilot on Reddit 10 days prior to its broadcast debut, as well as an augmented reality application bringing the characters to life for fans. Through all of the various forms of viewing the series, Final Space reached more than 20 million viewers and received very positive reviews from critics and audiences.

In addition to starring Rogers, the series also features the ensemble voice cast of Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants), Fred Armisen (Portlandia), David Tennant (Jessica Jones), Tika Sumpter (Ride Along), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) and Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things).

The renewal comes alongside a string of renewals for every TBS original, including the highly-praised The Last O.G. starring Tracy Morgan in his first main TV role since his accident.

The season finale for Final Space can be seen tonight at 8/7c and the rest of the season can be viewed on the TBS website.
