The upcoming and as-yet-untitled Sharknado 6 will be the last one in the Syfy franchise, according to TVLine. The final chapter in the battle against the sharks was greenlit by the cable network and will feature time travel. In Sharknado 6, Ian Ziering has to travel back in time to stop the first Sharknado. In addition to Ziering, Tara Reid, Cassie Scerbo and Vivica A. Fox will return to the franchise along with a number of cameos. Anthony C. Ferrante will once again direct the TV film.

In Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, the mission gets personal for Fin Shepard (Ian Ziering) and his bionic wife, April (Tara Reid) when their young son gets trapped in a traveling ‘nado and transported all over the world. From London to Rio, Tokyo, Rome, Amsterdam and beyond, our globetrotting heroes will seek assistance from a highly-skilled squad of royals, scholars and Olympians, zenlisting famous faces from news, entertainment, and sports in their most epic battle yet.

Cameos for the fifth entry in the series included: Fabio, Tony HawkClay AikenOlivia Newton-John, Chloe Lattanzi, Bret Michaels, Margaret Cho, Charo, Gilbert Gottfried, Al Roker, Kathie Lee Gifford, Hoda Kotb, Greg Louganis, Tom Daley, Gus Kenworthy, Jeff Rossen, Porsha Williams, Tiffany “New York” Pollard, Chris Kattan, Cat Greenleaf (“Talk Stoop”), Dan Fogler and Ross Mullan.
