Deadline reports that ABC has given the green light for an upcoming comedy series starring Alyson Hannigan. Man of the House is set to be a multi-cam hybrid family comedy with Kerry Washington’s studio-based Simpson Street set to produce the series along with Gail Berman’s The Jackal Group and ABC Studios.

The series “centers on two recently divorced sisters — one of them played by Hannigan — who decide to move in together to raise their kids under one roof. The oldest kid and only son is left to figure out what manhood means in a world where he’s now completely surrounded by females.” It is written by Vijal Patel (black-ish) and Frank Pines (Baby Daddy) with the series reportedly taking inspiration from Pines’ real life.

Hannigan will portray the character of Jessie, “a caring social-worker who was shocked when her husband left her. With nowhere else to turn, and against her better judgment, she moves her teenage football-star son and pre-teen daughter into the home of her narcissistic, ball-busting sister Charli and her even more-wicked daughter.” The project initially had a a cast-contingent pilot order with Hannigan’s casting ultimately lifting that contingency.

Hannigan is best known for her role as Willow Rosenberg in the supernatural teen drama Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as well as her nine-season run as Lily Aldrin on the CBS hit comedy How I Met Your Mother, and the American Pie films. She also hosts The CW’s Penn & Teller: Fool Us. Washington is currently wrapping up her seven-season arc as Olivia Pope in the hit ABC series Scandal.

Man of the House has no premiere date as of yet.
